A homeowner winter access checklist for the Ottawa route home.
The clearest snow-removal request begins with a walk around the property. Before a storm, identify the route from street to door and the smaller details—steps, bins, gates, parked vehicles, and storage—that shape a workable plan.
Walk from the street to the door
List the driveway, walkway, steps, porch, ramp, side entrance, garage, and any shared edge. Note changes in level, narrow passages, gates, and surfaces that may need separate attention.
Add the routes people forget
Include bins, mail, parking, a path to a secondary door, pet access, and the place visitors actually approach. A clear driveway is not the same thing as a complete route.
Choose storage before the pile arrives
Identify where snow can sit without blocking sightlines, drains, steps, walkways, or future access. If the available area is limited, make that a question in the first service conversation.
Save a concise request
Keep the property type, neighbourhood, priority surfaces, access constraints, preferred rhythm, and storage note together. Ask what is included and what will be confirmed; do not assume a directory page is a booking or availability signal.
